our mission
It all started with a simple mission—to make my son smile and give him delicious, allergy-safe treats. Now, that same passion fuels everything I do. My goal is to bring that same joy to others, making sure everyone, no matter their needs or preferences, can enjoy a special treat on their big day. Because everyone deserves cake (or cookies… or chocolate-covered deliciousness)!
how it all began
Once upon a time (because every sweet story needs a fairy tale opening)…
I was just Matt and Gabby’s mom, navigating life, work, and the chaos of parenthood. But everything changed when Matt came home from a weekend with his dad, covered in hives. A whirlwind of doctor visits later, we discovered he had a long list of allergies—mint, tomatoes, grapes, oranges, dairy, soy, nuts… basically, all the things found in most baked goods.
So, when Matt asked for a military-themed birthday cake, I thought, easy peasy!—until every bakery turned us down. Heartbroken but determined, I grabbed a baking book, rolled up my sleeves, and set out to make him a safe, homemade cake. It was messy. It was stressful. It involved more than one smoke alarm incident. But when Matt saw his cake? His smile made every flour-covered disaster worth it.
That moment sparked something in me. What started as a way to bake safely for my son became a passion, an obsession, and eventually… a business.
from baking blunders to business
Fast forward a few years—I went from tearful buttercream battles to launching my first official business, Dexter’s Custom Creations (DCC). Turns out, selling homemade cakes in New Jersey wasn’t exactly legal at the time, so I pivoted to selling baking supplies instead. But let’s be honest—my heart belonged to the art of baking.
In between, I wore more hats than a bakery has cake pans—realtor, ordained minister, notary public, tax advisor, and full-time superhero mom to three kids (plus a few furry sidekicks). But through it all, my passion for baking never faded.

When New Jersey finally passed its cottage food laws, I jumped back in—whisk in one hand, Pepsi in the other! Marcia’s Munchies NJ was born, and I haven’t looked back since.
Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to check off a few bucket list dreams:
